June 19, 2010 - Lexi is taking Ballet/Tap classes!!

As quickly as all the Flash Flooding stuff happened & as deep as that water got, it was crazy to me that the very next day the streets were almost completely clear!  Lexi & I have been going around everywhere trying to find ballet/tap shoes in her size & we had no trouble with the roads except for a couple of miles on Edmond road they still had blocked off and that was just because we had to sit in traffic.

Today was a great day, we started it off with a brunch at Martha's with some of our friends.  Martha went all out making everything you could possibly imagine, even animal shaped waffles for the kiddos, and it was all delicious!! 

We brought her a pretty plant for being such a wonderful hostess and enjoyed getting to Don, Myrna, Spencer & Mindy, Mat, Jaci & the kids, Mark & Ever & of course, Martha.  The kids had a blast playing together and Mikey and Spencer got all the attention ;)  Then Mark invited the big kids over for a play date with Ever & I went to the grocery store.  Crest was having a big Meat sale and I ran into like 3 people I knew there! 

Christopher Mendez called and invited Chris over for his bday party today so Chris was pretty much having the best day ever.  We went to the store to get Christopher M. a bday present and then after we dropped off Chris, Lexi & I went to the mall.  We finally have the right size in her ballet/tap shoes!  I found 4th of July outfits for the kids + a few more things ;) and Lexi got a classic movie she's been wanting for a while and she watched it as soon as we got back home!

I haven't seen the newer one but I get the impression that older kids or adults would like it better than the little ones.

I know I'm a big dork but I just had to take a picture of Lexi's little ballet/tap gear!!!  I think I'm just as excited as she is ;)  She will be attending the Summer Session at Studio J & if she likes it we may continue in the fall.

June 14, 2010 - Flash Flooding!

The weather craziness continues, except now with Flash Flooding!  It has been raining cats and dogs and areas all around us are flooded with 9 to 10 inches of water!  We are super lucky, our backyard looks like a lake but I don't think it's going to come up to the house or anything.  This girl in the first video was actually trapped in the water which was only several feet deep but had a very strong current!    Many families homes were completely flooded!

 

 

This video is from people right here in Edmond being rescued from their flooded homes by boat!!  I have never seen anything like this!!

A good friend of mine lives in The Valley and will likely lose all furniture + a lot more.  Page was out there working by Sante Fe High School where lots are cars were flooded out and of course he got completely soaked too :(

June 13, 2010 - Picking up my Babies!

I met Mom & Dad in Shawnee at noon to pick up my babies!  It was so good to see them!  We missed them very much!  However, we definitely experienced a new level of productivity in their absence ;)....on Wednesday, Page got the go to the Dead Center Film Festival to see the premier of Mat's documentary - The Birth of Big air, which is awesome!!

I didn't even know OKC had a film festival, much less that we have had one for 10 years!!  Here is a link to their website.

On Thursday Page, Mikey & I went out for a very quite dinner to the Olive Garden & then went by Office Depot so I could get supplies to make my new project....my 'Work' binder.  Since I'm only in the office less than 20 hours a week, I am doing some work from home and need to have lots of info at my fingertips sooooo......after getting some inspiration from Rachel, I thought this would be the perfect time for this project!  And guess what?!  I actually completed it!

On Friday I spent 4 uninterrupted hours cleaning out the garage and it looks fantastic!! The kids aren't going to recognize it...but I'm sure they'll enjoy trashing it again-lol!

Page had his first Evals at County for his DRE certification on Friday & Saturday nights!  He is excited about it but I was so bummed we only had one kid and could have easily gotten a babysitter but alas, no date night :(

The kids had a blast at Nana & Papaws!  On Monday they took them to the Splash pad and on Wednesday they took them to Sulphur.  The water at Sulpur is super cold so Lexi kept having to snuggle up to get warm...here are some pics that they took.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

We are officially Orlando bound in August, got the tickets on Friday!!!    We are beyond thrilled but we are going to wait a while to tell the kids because they will be ecstatic & bugging us to death with the countdown...& August is still a long way off! 

They are all settled back in & had barely rested at all before the neighbors called and they were whisked away to Chitwood park.  I wish I could get some of their energy!!

June 6, 2010 - Celebrating Mom's Birthday!!

This was the first official week of summer and we are off to a great start.  I took the kids by the library on Tuesday to get signed up for the summer reading program.  They can earn prizes and stuff for reading all summer.  We also went by Mardel's to get 2 big tri-fold boards so we could make mini offices like my friend Erin Keller posted about on her blog.  They turned out super cool and the kiddos loved them.  We also finally gave into the Silly Bandz craze & got some of those.

We had a garage sale at Tuesday's on Friday & Saturday & it was HOT!!  We didn't do very well & I am so over it!  Of course I say that every time and then we end up having another one ;)

I also had to pack up the 2 older kids stuff for an entire week because they are staying with Nana & Papaw, that was a challenge in and of itself!

Today we celebrated Mom's birthday at her house!!  I made her a Strawberry Dream Cake which I thought was going to be amazing, but something happened to it during transport and half the frosting slid off into the backseat of my car!!  I was so irritated!  We still had a nice cookout with Mom and the cake was still ok it just looked pitiful!

Sad to say goodbye to my older two, but looking forward to a break.  With only 1 child at home it will feel like a vacation!  Happy Birthday mom, here's a house full of kids for ya lol!!  Luuuuuvvvv UUUUU!

 

 

May 30, 2010 - Memorial Day Cookout!

Today we had a Memorial Day cookout just for us with Burgers & Dogs & the whole works - it was very nice. Page has to work the hospital tonight and it's back to his regular shift tomorrow so we jumped on our last chance to chill out!  We also broke out the little baby splash toy and the kids played around on that.  Here are a few pictures.  I love these babies!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

May 29, 2010 - Hussey Family Photos!

This was the last week of school for Christopher & he got to have a Beach party on Monday & several other fun activities as the school year wound to a close.  Yesterday he brought home his report card and it was all A's & B's!  He bought a new Pokemon guide & we all went out for ice cream.  Page has been in DRE school all week and Thursday night he got to hang out with his friend David Steele who plays guitar for Gary Allen! 

Tonight we met Kerry for our family pics at this awesome spot she picked somewhere east of I-35 off 15th street.  It is actually a neighborhood entrance but it was absolutely beautiful!  The pics turned out very nice and we are so thankful to her for taking them for us!!!

Oh & p.s. we have an official walker now!  I have lots of video but every time I think I've got one to post I realize someone is in their underwear or there's a mountain of dirty laundry in the shot etc.  Clearly I need to work on that lol!

May 23, 2010 - Zoo Day!

We are now official Zoo friend members!  For just a bit over what you would pay for regular admission you can become a Zoo friend and go free for a whole year!  We were all over that!

Had lunch at Subway which was super yummy.  Their Philly made with the new Flat-Bread is amazing!!!  We saw a bunch of cars in the parking lot with their windows busted out from the hailstorm the other night.

The new Children's area at the zoo is incredible!  Apparently it cost 8.3 million dollars to build & it just opened up about 2 months ago.  We ended up spending a lot more time there than we had planned.  It was only about 85 degrees today but it felt way hotter...we need to get in shape for those summer temps that are going to get into the 100's ugh!

 

 

 

 

 

This is Lexi getting ready to get in trouble from the 'lifeguard' for throwing rocks...she had to get on to a kid pretty much once a minute.  I don't see the fascination with throwing rocks but to kids it's apparently the thing to do!

We wore ourselves out so we re-scheduled our Family Pics with Kerry for next week.  After we went home and rested we took the kids for dinner at Braums and then to Chitwood park.  While they were playing Page told me he was talking to Mat & we may all be going to Orlando in July or August!!  That would be so fun!!

 

 

May 22, 2010 - Family Weekend!

Page actually has a weekend off & we have been thoroughly enjoying it!!  He got to go with Chris to his soccer game today.  I think the novelty of soccer has worn off for Chris though and he doesn't seem to be enjoying it anymore, so not sure how much longer that will continue...but anyway here is a pic (very far away, taken by my dear husband) of Chris in his uniform.

 

We are going to the zoo tomorrow and are getting our family pictures taken at 7:00pm by Kerry so I've been searching for the outfits we are going to wear.  I have been to Target, The Buckle, Express, Baby Gap & The Children's Place & I have finally got it all worked out...stay tuned for pics.

Tonight we went out for Mexican food at Ole' and it was awesome!!  I really love their food.  They make this amazing homeade guacamole right at your table that is to die for...you must try!

 

I love having a real weekend like a 'normal' family!!!!  Can't wait for the zoo tomorrow!

 

May 20, 2010 - Beautiful Kaylee!!

Today Kim watched the kiddos for me at our house which meant we got to see sweet baby Kaylee!!  She is such a calm, pretty baby!!

May 19, 2010 - Chuck E Cheese & More Tornados!

I can't even believe I am writing this but there were more tornado's today!!  That makes over 90 tornado's that have passed through the state in the month of May alone!!  I think that may be a record!  We met the Tant family for supper at

 

 

 We all had a great time!  I love that family!  The kids played games until we were all tired and ready to go home.  Plus the tornado sirens kept going off and that tends to put a damper on your fun!  Apparently the NW Expressway location where we were was damaged in February of last year by....wait for it....A TORNADO!!  When we went to leave everybody had their cell phones out taking pictures of the crazy clouds!

It literally looked like the sky was falling!  I found this video on You Tube put to some really morbid music, but you can see what the clouds looked like at least!!

May 17, 2010 - Don't Mess with My Babies!

We have discovered there is a blood sucking vicious predator in Mikey's room right now & it seems to be biting him nightly!  It's a stinking mosquito or maybe more than one!  When he gets bit, he swells up like nobody's business!  See for yourselves!  He's just minding his own business & napping with his lil diapy hanging out and Whamo! right on the face!  Poor baby :(

 

Page is in DRE school all this week to become a Drug Recognition Expert, it's a very intense course that involves clinical's and in September he will take his final exam.  I think he will be great!  However, we will be using childcare this week & thank goodness Ms. Destiny had openings for drop ins!!  I actually went by there this morning with all the baby gear so I could drop all that off and not be so rushed in the morning & the kids could play.  Mikey doesn't seem to suffer from any kind of separation anxiety (knock wood) so that is a good thing.

I finally got Chris enrolled in swim lessons today at the YMCA!  I got the last available spot & had to sign him up for a youth membership, but it's only $10 a month and you save $10 on the lessons when you're a member so it's all good.  Their system is really weird though.  Truly if you are not a member of the YMCA you have zero chance of getting them in for lessons!  Even if you are a member they open enrollment online at midnight and they are all booked up within the day so you have to be on it!  I can't tell you how many times I missed out before they finally told me that-grr!  But it's all good now and he is set to start next month-Woot!

Think of Lil Mikey 2nite and hopefully we can catch that pesky bug!

 

May 16, 2010 - Huge Hailstorm!

Well, I never really imagined I'd be talking about the weather so much on my blog, but this month has been unbelievable!  We are getting into record numbers of tornado's and today there was a crazy hailstorm!  Jewel, Chris & Lexi had just geared up to play on the Slip 'N Slide when I got a call from Page that I needed to clear out the garage and pull my car in because the weather was reporting a massive hailstorm heading our way any minute.  With the kids help I was able to clear enough space in the garage to pull the Tahoe in just in the nick of time before the hail started coming down.  It was super noisy and we only got marble size. 

When we went to drop Jewel off several hours later there were cars with windows busted out & 'snowdrifts' on the sides on the roads just a few miles from our house!

Completely off topic, I made a very yummy pork tenderloin for supper tonight!  We normally do it on the grill but I did this marinade with lots of fresh garlic, rosemary etc. & cooked it in the oven & it was great!!  Definitely adding it into the rotation!

And on another totally unrelated topic...here is Mikey making a snake sound...I just know everyone will appreciate it as much as we do-haha.
